When you are down with flu, try to find something that can de-congest your chest and nasal passage and boost your immune system to fight off the infection. One such item is easy to make “age-old Punjabi ginger garlic soup”. Its a traditional way of fighting cold in punjabi households. Lets look at the recipe.
- Cooking oil or butter
- Half Onion
- 1 inch thick ginger
- 3 cloves of garlic
- One teaspoon black pepper powder
- A pinch of turmeric
- 500 ml water
- Boiled Chicken/Tofu (optional)
First roughly grind ginger, garlic, and onion. In a pan heat a tablespoon of cooking oil or butter. Add the ground ingredients and saute for two minutes on medium heat. Now turn the heat down to low and add turmeric and saute for 10 -15 seconds. Add salt according to taste and black pepper powder. Mix well and then add water. Now boil this on medium heat till the water level goes down to 250 ml. Serve Hot. It is completely optional but you can also add boiled chicken or tofu.
