BlackBerry to acquire cybersecurity firm Cylance for $1.4 billion

BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) announced on November 16, 2018, that it will acquire Cylance, an artificial intelligence and cybersecurity company, for $1.4 billion in cash plus the assumption of unvested employee incentive awards. The acquisition will complement BlackBerry’s UEM and QNX platform.

Cylance is California based that develops AI-based cybersecurity software with highly effective predictive capability to prevent cyberattacks on big organizations. As per the company, Cylance will operate as a separate business unit within BlackBerry.
